Photo_-_Baker_Jeff.jpgJeff Baker has become one of the most significant talents in the next generation of jazz vocalists. His diverse musical recordings, exciting live performances, and infectious energy and personality have gained him accolades from critics and listeners alike.

Jeff has performed throughout the U.S., and has enjoyed performance engagements in central Europe and South Africa. His four critically acclaimed CD releases on the Origin/OA2 Records imprint have charted on the ‘Jazzweek’ International Radio Top 50.

A graduate of Willamette University, Baker has also been sought after as a jazz educator, adjudicating numerous festivals, and working in clinics with some of the nations very best high school and college jazz programs. Bakers students have won over 100 Top Awards at festivals and competitions throughout the U.S., including being named finalists to the Monterey Jazz Festival ‘Next Generation Competition’ in 2010, 11’, and 12’ and winning 10 Downbeat Magazine Student Music Awards, including the 2010 and 2012 and 2013 High School Vocal Solo Winners, and the 2012 Winner for Large Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Additionally, Baker’s groups have been invited to perform at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Carnegie Hall, and the National Cathedral.

Jeff is an ACDA Certified Clinician/Adjudicator, a current member of JEN, NAFME, and NARAS or the GRAMMY Foundation). Jeff Baker now resides in Portland, OR and is currently on the jazz faculty at Portland State University, and is the Co-Founder and Director of the Jazz Forward Competition.


Pic_-_Erickson_Bill.jpgBill Erickson retired in 2012 from nearly 30 years in music education. He served at Cherry Creek High School from 1989-2012, earning the Teacher of the Year Award, KCNC TV’s Teacher Who Makes a Difference, NAfME’s One of Colorado’s Accomplished Music Teachers, the CMEA Hall of Fame and was awarded Northern State University’s Distinguished Alumni (Aberdeen, SD). He also served as Colorado ACDA President and R&S Chair for HS Mixed Choirs. In April of 2017, his college rock band was inducted into the South Dakota Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  

Mr. Erickson earned his BME from Northern State College, Aberdeen, SD and the MM from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ. Under his direction, the CCHS Meistersingers performed at the 2003 ACDA National Convention in New York City, appeared at 4 CMEA State Conferences, and toured domestically as well as 8 European countries. His Meistersingers, Union St. Jazz Choir and Choralaires made a total of 7 appearances at the CMEA State Conference.  The Meistersingers also appeared in studio on the CBS This Morning Show in NYC and performed with the Colorado Symphony and guest conductor, Marvin Hamlisch, The Denver Brass, and the Denver Young Artists Orchestra.

Mr. Erickson served 9 years at the annual AP Music Theory Reading and co-authored the curriculum module, “Minor Matters: Developing Competency in Minor Mode Dictation” for the College Board, used throughout the country at AP Institutes. He often serves as guest lecturer/conductor and adjudicator at various festivals, high schools and universities across the front-range of Colorado and surrounding states.


Pic_-_Richards_Eric.jpgDr. Eric Richards is the Director of Bands and Jazz Studies at Sheridan College, where he serves as Music Director of the Sheridan Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Jazz Combo. Additionally, he leads program initiatives in recruiting, outreach and curriculum development.

A Pittsburgh native, Richards is a versatile and widely performed composer/arranger, conductor, trombonist and educator active in a wide range of musical genres. His works as a composer, arranger and trombonist have taken him across the United State, Europe and Asia.

Richards served as Associate Professor of Composition and Jazz Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) from 2008 to 2015. During this time at UNL, he was the recipient of the 2013 Distinguished Teaching Award in the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts.
